Viewpoints of Space

Shape (Jose):
The contour or outline of bodies in space; the shape of the body by itself, in relation to other bodies, or in relation to architecture; think of lines, curves, angles, arches all stationary or in motion.

Gesture (Garrett):
Gesture - a) Behavioral gesture: realistic gesture belonging to the physical world as we observe it every day. b) Expressive gesture: abstract or symbolic gesture expressing an inner state or emotion; it is not intended as a public or "realistic" gesture.

Architecture (Hannah):
The complex or carefully designed structure of a continuous area or expense that is free, available or unoccupied.

Spatial Relationship (Blanca):
Spatial relation defines the relation between and object located in space and the space in reference to the object represented by a bounding box.
In anatomy it is defined as how strongly a spatial relation holds from 0 till 100%. In spatial databases SR are used for analysis and to hold specification. Plays a role in cognitive development for many areas such as catching objects, and walking.n

Topography (Sam)

The movement over landscape, floor pattern and design. Activity: The participants will need to create a story without the use of verbal communication, they will use the space and the way they move around the space to create a story.

Viewpoints Reflection

When you see someone doing a gesture, you can use common sense or predict what they are doing or what object are they trying to re-create. There are certain gestures that could be used to represent an action like if the scene is urgency to go to the bathroom, the person will put a uncomfortable face and will start moving around holding his pants like if he was in a hurry. Expressive gestures are used when the person wants to express his feeling, for example if he suddenly starts running around and putting an angry face, he might be trying to kill someone or catch someone. Gesture could be applied to acting because it could be useful when making a silent play or it could also be used to support an expression when the actor is overreacting in a scene.
I learned that the architecture could be used to create your own space in which you feel good and can rotate between places when you feel something is not right. Space affects me by surrounding me and making me move whenever somebody passed right beside me. There are certain things that I discovered in the room and they are: the grid can be very annoying because it forces you to move or change direction whenever someone passes by you and that may objects can be used to represent other objects or are helpful to show a scene. The lack of space in the room/grid made me feel uncomfortable because it was impossible to settle down in single place. So basically my attitudes were uncomfortable and joy because there were funny aspects where people would just bump each other on purpose to change their direction and not let them arrive to their destination. When we started using the Kinesthetic response, I felt that I had to move around every time and that I could also use their objects to create an object which would help me settle down or relax me a bit. This activity could be used in a rehearsal process by making the actors visualize their own private space and apply it on a play.

Viewpoints in Rehearsal

Step #1: Inform the group of students how the expressive gesture can affect the way that somebody is trying to convey a message

Step #2: Get the students in two separate lines and then give them a topic (in our case I think it The Merchant of Venice) with a character that they will represent.

Step #3: Give each character a gesture that was used on a scene of the play and see the reaction (for example show what would she feel after get heartbroken)

I would use this activity as a director so that the person would get to know the character he/she is portraying a bit better so that he/she knows how to react and was gesture to show. I would really use this because it feels like the characters are already acting before the play and it would really help the actor calm down if they're nervous because they can actually see what they are going to be doing before going up to stage.
